One-paragraph campaign summary

denmantown.org is a community-led petition asking the Province of British Columbia to commission a Restructure Study for Denman Island under the Local Government Act. Denman is a 1,400-person Gulf Island in Comox Valley Regional District Electoral Area A, governed by fourteen overlapping bodies and no elected local council. The campaign is modelled on Bowen Island’s 1999 incorporation as the only existing “island municipality” inside the Islands Trust area, and on Okanagan Falls’ March 2025 incorporation, the first new BC municipality in fifteen years.
