denmantown.org is a private, personal petition maintained by Tony Aly asking the Province of British Columbia to commission a Restructure Study for Denman Island under the Local Government Act. Denman recorded 1,391 residents in the 2021 Census and is a Gulf Island in Comox Valley Regional District Electoral Area A. Its responsibilities are divided among governments, regulators, service providers, and community nonprofits; it has no general-purpose municipal council. The campaign is modelled on Bowen Island’s 1999 incorporation as the only existing “island municipality” inside the Islands Trust area, and on Okanagan Falls’ March 2025 referendum and 2026 incorporation process, the first new BC municipality since 2010.
